How to use your Aldara Wart Cream
Aldara Wart Cream is an effective, easy to use night cream. Rub the cream on the affected area and left on the skin while you sleep and wash it off in the morning. Aldara Wart Cream is suitable for skin use only. Avoid getting the cream in the eyes, nose or on the lips. Follow the directions on the label. Do not use Aldara 5% Cream on other areas of your body than affected. Do not use Aldara Wart Cream longer than prescribed. If you use the cream too much or too often allergic skin reactions could happen. Call our healthcare providers if Aldara Wart Cream does not work for you. For genital and perianal warts Aldara Wart Cream should be used once a day for 2-4 days a week. Left Aldera Wart Cream on your skin for 6 to 10 hours. Continue this treatment until the warts are completely gone, or up to 4 months. If you suffer from actinic keratosis, use Aldara Wart Cream once a day for 2 days a week. Left Aldara Wart Cream on your skin for about 8 hours. Continue this treatment for 4 months even if your symptoms appear to be gone (unless you are told otherwise by your healthcare professional). The size of the are being treated should be no larger than the size of your cheek (approximately 2 inches in diameter). Unless you are directed otherwise do not use any other skin product on the same area of your skin where Aldara Wart Cream is applied.
Warnings and safety precautions
In case you notice skin irritation or flu-like symptoms (fatigue, fever, headache, muscle pain, diarrhea), go to see your doctor. You may have to reduce the number of treatments or even discontinue using the medicine until your flu-like symptoms disappear and your skin becomes less irritated. Do not engage in genital, oral, or anal sex while Aldara Wart Cream is on your skin. Be sure to wash Aldara 5% Cream off before any kind of sexual activity. Due to their oil content, condoms and cervical caps will not work properly while Aldara Wart Cream is on. Do not share the cream with others, even if they suffer from the same condition.
What to do when you have missed a dose
Apply the missed dose of Aldara Wart Cream as soon as possible then try to keep on with your regular schedule.
Possible side effects you may experience
Commonly observed side effects with Aldara Wart Cream at the site of treatment are:
- redness,
- hard or thickened skin,
- skin peeling,
- swelling,
- burning,
- itching,
- scabbing and crusting,
- sore, blister, or ulcer,
- skin color change.
Storage
Store the cream below 25oC (77oF) but avoid freezing. If it goes out of date or not needed anymore you can safely throw it away.
Overdosing Aldara Wart Cream
Repeated overdosing of Aldera Wart Cream may lead to local skin reactions or systemic reactions.
